Beeping, Pottery, and a Blender
The beeping wouldn’t stop. Every time I cranked the car, it started again—loud, persistent, and maddening. I discovered that turning the radio knob would make it stop... for a second. Eventually, I decided I couldn’t take another day of it and dropped the car off at the garage.
Not long after I got home, the mechanic, my new friend Nate, called with an update. Yes, they could fix the beeping. 🙌 But there was a more urgent issue: a failing engine mount. What good is it to stop the beeping if your engine falls out? Valid point.
It’s easy to focus on what’s loud and annoying while missing what’s actually essential. Sometimes, the loudest thing isn’t the most important—just the most distracting. Today, let’s step away from the noise and into the presence of the One who gives peace in the chaos.
Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Proverb 4:25
Book Buzz
I had the chance to chat with Teresa Whiting on the Find Hope Here podcast about Hidden Heartache—the hard parts, the healing, and everything in between. You can listen to part 1 here and part 2 here.
If sexual brokenness is part of your story, you might find hope and help in Teresa’s book, Graced: How God Redeems and Restores the Broken.
BONUS: If you’re up for hearing two girls talk honestly about fasting, check out episode 99 of the UnPerfect podcast with Shelly Snead and me. Give it a listen here.
A FAVOR: Would you mind leaving a one-sentence review for Hidden Heartache here? Thank you!
But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7
Kindred Connections
Some people find their calling early—and Matthew Kelly is one of those people. He’s been turning pottery since high school and what began as a spark of interest has grown into an incredible talent and career. His wife (who happens to be my cousin and holiday walking pal) is a creative in her own right. Together, they’re the kind of people who make creativity look effortless.
Matthew’s pottery isn’t just functional—it’s the kind of art people drive across state lines to get their hands on. Stop in to watch him work, say hello to the family, or meet their newest additions… chickens. 🐥
Check out Matthew Kelly Pottery.
Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8
Favorite Things
I’m not much for cooking. If a recipe has more than five ingredients, there’s a good chance I’m not making it. But I do use my Magic Bullet almost every day to make a smoothie (less than five ingredients for sure). This little blender has become a staple in my kitchen. It’s easy to clean and small enough to keep in a cabinet. I never thought I’d say this, but my Magic Bullet is one of my favorite things. After you try it, it might be one of yours too.
That’s it for this month. May your summer be full of 5-ingredient recipes, restful moments, and fun sunglasses. 😎
God’s biggest blessings to you.
